Applewood Farms LLC has been recently formed. We have always been Applewood Farms. A breeding facility standing American Saddlebred stallion Midnight CappO'Cino. We welcome back Nicole Lancia back to the lesson program. After living down south for a while Nicole has returned in 2009 to teach the riding lesson program at her farm.
Applewood Farms is owned and operated by Mike and Sammie Lancia. Sammie has been showing horses for over 35 years. She has shown American Saddlebreds, Morgans, Arabians, Quarter Horses, Tennesee Walkers, Paso Fino's and hunters. Over the years she has had a lot of experience showing and working with many trainers. She has shown many different breeds and was fortunate to share so many breeds and temperments, but her love has always kept her heart with the American Saddlebreds.
With the support of her husband Mike she ventured back into the saddlebred world with purchasing a saddlebred mare from a friend. This friend purchase this mare from an auction and could not handle this mare who had a big motor and a lot of trust issues. Sammie took her in and worked on her problems and this mare Candy turned into a great show mare, and eventually Sammie decided to breed her, and we were blessed with our stallion Midnight CappO'Cino. We were so excited with him that we decided to leave Candy a broodmare and take in another American Saddlebred mare to fix. This began another love. Fixing unwanted ASB's that the show ring or inexperienced people had disgarded and placing them in forever homes.
During that year Sammie and Mike purchase Applewood Farms, and operated it for the last 8 years as a Owner Trainer Rider facilty breeding American Saddlebreds, and breaking and training her own babies. Sammie soon realized she needed some help so she boarded and trained some of her daughters friends horses in exchange for chores and help around the barn. There was a lot of work to be down but no time to do it, and there were a lot of kids that had horse to be fixed and no money to do so. Sammie and Mike have 3 children. Nicole 20, for many years did a lot of work with 4- H and did many clinics and lessons for the 4-H kids out of the house, and Michael 18 who was more into dirtbikes and road ponies than horses. Last but not least is Tyler who is 7 and loves animals.
We are truly blessed to have the best family and equally bless and proud to have produced one of the finest American Stallions in the Midwest our pride and joy. Midnight CappO'Cino
